So you want to know how much snow there is in Maine and where’s the Snow? Give or take a few inches, overall there is now about 18+ inches of snow to play in the Moosehead Lake Region.
Two winter storms fell as mostly all snow Monday through Wednesday on top of a frozen winter base of 3 inches that was on the ground for over a week. The snowfall base now varies 12 -15 inches the Moosehead Lake Greenville Maine area with an additional 3-4 inches of crusty hard base on top which is the beginning of a start for a great base for the upcoming winter season.
Guided snowmobile trips are offered with snowmobile rental available based on current conditions Moosehead Lake may not be safe to ride on, so you may have to stay on the trails and avoid crossing water bodies during pre-season riding. Some of the best snow conditions for December that we have seen in years. Those renting snowmobiles should consider hiring a guide in pre-season conditions until all trails broke through and grooming is ongoing as these are not beginner riding conditions.
